Sukhna Lake - Chandigarh (Chandigarh)

Sukhna Lake is a man-made lake spread over 3 Sq. Kms. on the northern border of Chandigarh city. The lake and its heavily wooded shores constitute a nationally protected wetland. The lake is surrounded by lots of trees-shaded promenade is a favorite spot to stroll and enjoy the tranquil ambience. In this lake Yachting and Paddle Boating are another pleasant diversion. Even for more relaxation, there is a cafe run by the Chandigarh Tourism Development Corporation. This lake is also a favorite spot for bird lovers, where they can watch different types of bird species. December to February is the right time to see many species of aquatic birds from Central Asia and Siberia that find the lake a pleasant place to pass the winter.
